What is the NDIS?
The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) provides funding for disability support services to people aged 0-65 years who have a permanent or significant disability, as well as to their families and carers.
People with a disability have the same right as any other Australian to determine their own best interests and care, and to have choice and control over how they live their lives. The new NDIS scheme acknowledges people's right to possess different needs and goals, by allowing the tailoring of individualised, non-means tested funding packages.
The NDIS has replaced the existing disability support system (the National Disability Agreement, or NDA), which was unfair and inefficient. This new national system is world-leading, sustainable and equitable. It helps empower and inform people living with a disability to become more confident and self-reliant.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is responsible for administering and implementing the NDIS, and ensuring people with a disability continue to get the support they need.

"Thank you very much for sending Hanne to help me for the past two Fridays. She helped me to keep my mind on cleaning (which has been difficult for me) and most of all she talked to me like a normal person, something I haven't had for a long time. Hanne didnt make me feel guilty for having my dogs inside with me and she was very kind, happy company for me. Thank-you all."
